EARL HARPER
Earl Harper's experience, skills & talents are well established and respected in the creative community. He's been there, done that and gets right into the thick of things. His ambition to succeed and have fun while doing it shows in his work and in his leisure time. His passions feed off each other... Photography, cooking, fly-fishing, travel and outdoor adventures. He likes to be challenged in all aspects of his life. Without it, he's bored. He has a strong design sense and brings a load of talent and expertise to the shoot. Earl's clients fly him all over the world to capture their images and strengthen their identity through photography. His style and amiable nature encourage 'camera-shy' people to relax and feel comfortable when Earl's behind the camera and when they are in front of it. Earl Harper is a photographer, fly-fisherman, cook, philanthropist and husband. He has been known to eat really strange things, and has no fear doing it. He believes in Karma and gives of himself for great and kind purposes with no expectations in return. He's a work hard, play harder kind of guy and seeks personal growth for his joys in life.
HARPER STUDIOS
Harper Studios was established in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle in 1996. Our first location was a 4,000 square foot warehouse based on a dream that "if you build it, they will come". Well... they did come and we quickly out-grew it! A short three years later, we re-located to an 11,000 square foot warehouse space just a few blocks east on Airport Way. It was gritty, hip, artistic and fun(ctional)! A lot of great friendships, alliances and creative work was produced out of there. That Airport Way studio served us well for 20 years.
We knew that the year 2020 had big things in store for us, but we certainly didn’t expect everything else that came along with it. Our 20 year lease was going to be up at the end of June (2020), so we re-assessed and decided to work smarter, not harder. Seattle had changed a lot and it just felt like it was the right time to go. We found a great warehouse just south of Seattle near the marina and in the City of Des Moines. All good things were in place and we even managed to take a trip while the renovations were happening. The Covid managed to pump the brakes and then put a full stop on progress for awhile. We weren’t sure if everything would be built out and completed by our move-out date, but with hard work, community support and perseverance it all came together just in time at 5pm on June 30, 2020.
Our new studio is awesome and custom fit to our needs. It's ~4500 square feet with lots of daylight, an open floor plan and has a great creative vibe. We have four camera work stations, rolling racks, steamers and all of the necessities for shooting large and small projects. Our team remains the same solid crew with Earl on camera, Doreen on tasks, Jennie on client files and Tom on Photoshop. One of the best features of our new space is having a paved lot with ample free parking! No more pot holes or AWD in the alley!
The new location lends well to local and out of state clients. We are located five miles from SeaTac Airport, 15 miles from downtown Seattle and 19 miles from downtown Tacoma. The Kent Valley is five miles to the east and the Des Moines Marina is a seven minute walk. We are able to shoot with a socially acceptable distance and a minimal crew for safety measures. Clients are shipping products and providing online or verbal direction to keep their inventory moving and in the marketplace. We are here and ready to get you what you need when you need it.
STUDIO CREW
Inside Earl Harper's Des Moines studio, just south of Seattle, a team of industry folks are making pretty pictures and keeping quality the standard. The studio produces advertising, commercial and catalog work in the 4500 square foot renovated warehouse space. While shooting is happening in the studio, the imaging crew is working on files. It's efficient and it works! Changes on the fly? No problem. Make the logo bigger? We can do that too. Jennie manages the Imaging Department and keeps projects on track. She handles the outgoing files and makes sure all of our clients are well taken care of. Tom is our top imaging specialist and has a keen eye for detail and efficiency.
Together they have it dialed in and make the photo magic happen. Doreen wears a variety of hats at Harper Studios with a focus on the less creative. She's the 'go-to-girl' and is always ready to kick a hole in it. If you have a project to chat about, then she's the one to talk to. Coordinating your shoot with what's on tap... she can do that too. The Harper Studios team is all about producing quality results. Pride, craftsmanship and teamwork are ingredients in our recipe for success.
